First Weekend of "Fall"

So it's not technically fall, but you wouldn't know it around here. The weather has been dramatically cooler and we even contemplated turning on the fireplace this morning (probably because we accidentally left 5 windows open last night - oops). I had this Friday off of work since I worked like a dog all of last weekend (yes, Labor Day). So...I was anxiously awaiting my 3 day weekend this weekend. Friday, my mom and I went out to Buffalo, MN to the monthly occasional sales. It was a total BLAST! I should have taken pictures of her finds (I didn't), but I did take some photos of a few of my items that I've already added to my home decor. I could have bought trunk-fulls, literally. The only thing slowing me down was a nagging cold I came down with on Thursday. Most of the shops had fresh rolls and cider. I officially had 4 glasses of hot apple cider! I won't make the sales in October, so this past weekend needed to tide me over until November.

I've been wanting a chalkboard in my dining room since we saw one in a model home last spring. I originally bought a black frame at Michael's, but then my mom spotted this one at Second Hand Rose and I had to have it! It's hard to tell from this picture, but the frame is white with areas of green peeking through. I just whipped out the chalkboard paint, painted it on the wall, and put the frame over it. Love it.

I finally feel satisfied with my red corner cupboard. (sometime I'll put pictures up of how it looked before I rescued it from craigslist). My mom was throwing out the birdcage (what? why?) It didn't need any work/spray paint! I also got 2 taper candles in Buffalo. Believe it or not, pretty tapers are hard to find. I got the books at a garage sale Friday morning.
The next picture has to be one of the coolest things I've put together in a while. I got the old window frame in an antique store basement (covered in spider eggs) in Brainerd. As soon as I saw it I knew it had to be a peg rack for the foyer. I had my eye out for some antique doornobs, but evidently those are way expensive. My mom spotted these vintage knobs at The Porch - Atelier in Buffalo. We came straight home and drilled 5 holes for the knobs and hung the frame up on the wall.
For fall, I have a purse my Grandpa's girlfriend made for me hanging on a hook.
I also completed my fall themed mantle (at least until I can get my hands on some real pumpkins)
Have a beautiful week!

Okay, that window thing-a-ma-bob is to die for! And the chalkboard is SENSATIONAL! I was born and raised in Minnesota, so it was cool to be able to visualize all the places you mentioned in this post. :-)
